PETRA KLINGLER
When Petra started following us on Instagram, we couldn't resist the temptation to ask her to be our ambassador.
She replied, saying she admired our work and had an idea for cooperation.
It turns out that Petra is not only one of the strongest climbers in the world (Bouldering World Champion in 2016 and Ice Climbing World Champion in 2022, just to cite a couple of her achievements), but she also works in the board of a charity: Miracle Feet.
Miracle Feet is a global organization dedicated to providing treatment to children born with "clubfoot" in low- and middle-income countries.
Clubfoot is a birth defect that causes one or both feet to turn inward and down. If not treated, it will disable the affected person for life.
9.75 million people alive today were born with clubfoot.
As many as 8 million never received treatment.
Guess what? Petra was born with it. She recognized her fortune in being born in the right part of the world where she had access to treatment. So she decided to help those who aren't as fortunate.
So, like us, she has taken action to give back and help people.
And so we share both the passion for climbing and the desire to have a positive impact on the world.
It's a perfect match 💜
We can't even begin to tell you how thrilled we are to have Petra among our ambassadors.
When we asked, we didn't even expect a reply... Instead, we were once again surprised by how kind and down-to-earth world champions in this sport are.
She is yet another proof that the climbing community is made up, for the most part, of really nice people.
JULIANE WURM
10 years on the German National Team, 2014 World champion and 2015 European Champion: if you are into climbing Juliane Wurm probably needs no introduction.
But just in case you didn't know: Jule was at the top of the game worldwide. And right after reaching the top she decided that her studies of medicine were more important than competing. That helping people was more satisfying than the spotlight.
That is why sponsoring Jule is more than a pleasure, it is an honour.
She is now a doctor and her focus is on the medical research of Covid infections in children.
But besides that, she is still an active climber (a strong one of course), a route setter and a commentator of the sport.
So, again, we are thrilled to have her representing us.
Since she shares with us the passion for climbing, the concern for climate change and the drive to help people, it wasn't difficult to convince her to join our cause :)
On top of that she is an incredibly down to earth, funny and enjoyable person to be around. No wonder everyone loves her. We do.
LUCIANO BRUCOLI
Geologist, alpinist, and climber Luciano Brucoli loves rock in all her forms.
He shares his passion for climbing and the outdoors wherever he goes, but he is especially committed to developing the climbing culture in his homeland: the beautiful (but somewhat underestimated) region of Basilicata in Italy.
For this reason, he opened several routes (including some multipitches) in the "Punta Blu" crag, and he organizes two events that bring the climbing community together: the Double Block and the Sandstone Climbing Meeting.
Currently, he is a route setter at the Crazy Center in Florence, one of the most important gyms in the Italian circuit.
His passion for climbing has taken him around the world, and when we first met in Berlin, Skalo was just an idea. However, he immediately believed in it and started supporting us and spreading the word from that moment on.
Now, we couldn’t be happier to have him as one of our ambassadors :)
NORA CATERIN BORN
Nora is another acquaintance from the climbing scene in Berlin.
She is a climber, a route setter, and a filmmaker.
She is also a nomad who truly embraces van life and spends half of her time living outdoors with her dog (and by the way, she's extremely skilled in building her own vans).
Irreverent, independent, and inclined toward (political) provocation, but also super funny and energetic, Nora is a free spirit who perfectly embodies our 'rebel' ethos and personifies our love for freedom.
She's unafraid to voice her opinions on important topics such as gender discrimination and climate change.
Some people will dislike her for that, and some people will admire her for that...
We love her attitude!
And that is exactly why it's a pleasure to have her as one of our ambassadors :)
GABRIEL PRANGE
If you're a passionate climber like us, and strive to get stronger, Gabriel is the guy who will take you to your next level.
When it comes to training, he has incredible knowledge and he is quickly becoming one of the most beloved coaches in Germany (and not only), training people of all levels, including several pro athletes.
He became a coach with the goal of integrating the latest scientific findings into training for climbing and make it more modern.
Gabriel is a passionate boulderer himself, having discovered his love for climbing in 2017.
From day one, he was just as passionate about his training and he could send his first 8a Fb after only 3 years (!).
But what most impressed us is his attitude and aura: calm, humble, and with a contagious broad smile... he is just a nice guy!
Not surprising from someone who spent 6 years in the rescue service as a paramedic.
Beeing the nice guy he is, he absolutely loved our concept and mission when we shared it with him. So, he was genuinely happy to represent us.
Likewise, we are proud to have him as one of our ambassadors! :)
CLAUDIA CAPOVILLA
Claudia is another random encounter that turned into a good friendship. When she moved to Berlin, she noticed Skalo for the first time and reached out just to show her enthusiasm about our project.
So we met, and from that moment on, she started to be one of our biggest supporters. She began spreading the word on her platform and never asked for anything in return.
Claudia, besides being a climber and an outdoor lover, is a Yoga Teacher.
Recently, she combined her passions in one place and created a platform called Yoga for Outdoor People, where several yoga instructors share their lessons developed specifically for outdoor lovers: climbers, runners, bikers..there are lessons for everyone!
It's an amazing project, check it out.
She believes that giving and being kind are values per se, and you don't have to do things only in exchange for something.
This is the kind of attitude we love.
So it felt only right to make it a mutual support. And now we are incredibly happy to give her our support back and have her representing us :)
OLE REUSCH
Ole is the first jung gun in our roster.
Trained by his own father, he represents another promising talent in the German climbing scene.
Although he is only 17, he has been climbing and competing for the past 10 years. He has achieved several significant results in the German youth climbing scene, but he loves competing just as much as he loves climbing outdoors.
But what's most important to us is that he identifies himself with our mission and values. This is what actually motivated him to contact us and request a sponsorship.
In his message, he wrote: ".. One of the main problems in our world is that we don’t help and support each other enough. I believe you [Skalo Climbing] do this in a truly reliable and admirable manner .."
We couldn't say no :)
We love to see that young people (and young climbers) today are not just about showing off on social media, but actually care about and are concerned with serious issues.
That's why we are more than happy to have Ole among our ambassadors!
DAVID HOLZINGER
If you've been around Bolzano climbing, there's a really good chance you've met David.
David is the kind of extrovert and nice guy who knows literally EVERYONE.
He's the typical local crusher who knows every crag and every route. He also works at the local climbing gym (which is the legendary Salewa Cube) and is often busy bolting new sectors himself with his friends.
In a few words: an absolute climbing fanatic :)
When we got to know him during a trip to the Dolomites, he was immediately enthusiastic about our mission, and we loved his attitude, so a collaboration felt natural...
Now we are happy to have him among our ambassadors, spreading the message around the climbing community of Sudtirol :)
LUKAS SAGER
Lukas is a French-Austrian talent who climbed one of the hardest multi-pitches in France (Yeah Man - 8b+) at only 16 years old, and achieved his first 9a (Cabane au Canada) at 17.
But, as always, hard sends are not what impresses us, a big heart and strong values do.
Lukas is another young promise who reached out because he wanted to join our mission.
He didn't just want to be sponsored, he genuinely wanted to help us reach more people with our message.
In his own words: ".. the idea of channeling profits towards creating a better world is truly fantastic. And it's my values to also improve the world with my passion for climbing."
Once again, we were moved to see that the young generation of climbers cares for more than just appearance and performance.
So we welcomed Lukas into our family, and he is now our first ambassador in France.. Bienvenue! :)
