BOULDERKLUB KREUZBERG
The coolest Bouldergym in the heart of Berlin Kreuzberg!
This is not just one of the best gyms in Berlin, this is Home. Here is where we started. Without their support our project would probably not even exist.
And that says it all.
So go there, and try the state-of-the-art, world class boulder problems. You’ll probably meet one of us there, hanging out in the relaxed and unique atmosphere of this place.
Besides our chalk, you'll also find some of our apparel in Boulderklub. Some of it is sold exclusively there, and you won't find it anywhere else (and they are so cool that don't add any extra charge for it!).
So there are a lot of good reasons to visit this amazing facility, whether you live in Berlin or are just passing through ;)
DER KEGEL
When climbing and bouldering were still not a thing of the masses, the small climbing community in Berlin used to meet in the "cave" and climb artificial ice waterfalls on this iconic building.
Over time, Der Kegel evolved into a modern gym that has it all: bouldering walls both indoor and outdoor, a training area, a small shop, and, of course, the iconic walls of "the cone" (aka der Kegel).
But Der Kegel still retains that “punk” atmosphere of those early days, and over there you can still smell the freedom and the rebellion of a dirtbag addicted to climbing.
This makes Der Kegel a unique place.
We just love it!
Moreover, they support us by selling our chalk, which makes us love them even more.
BERTA BLOCK
Berta Block is, hands down, the biggest and one of the most beloved bouldering gyms in Berlin.
In the past years, they have never stopped expanding, adding whole new areas, gear, boards, and just keep offering more and more, becoming the most complete bouldering facility in Berlin (and Berlin's standards are quite high).
But their strength is not just size, it's quality.
From the setting to the climbing holds, the training gear, and their shop... they're just crazy about offering their clients the best.
And that is why they are now offering our chalk as well ;)
But they were not only attracted to its quality, they totally believe in our mission as well. Turns out they are as much about quality as they are about fairness :)
BOULDERGARTEN
The Bouldergarten is basically a paradise for climbers in Berlin Neukölln.
There you have it all: bouldering walls, climbing walls, and spray walls. And then a MoonBoard, a TensionBoard and a KilterBoard.
Add a huge training area and a Slackline as well.
Ah, let’s not forget the Sauna!
But most important of all: the owners are climbers with passion who always try to make the best choices for their climbing community.
Fairness and Inclusivity are their priorities and they value those more than profit.
That’s also why they chose to support us.
You gotta respect that. You gotta love that. We do.
SIEBEN A PLUS
7a+ is a jewel in Potsdam.
One of the founders, Henri, has been in the bouldering scene in Berlin for ages, and that's how we got to know each other.
Years later, when we started this project, we asked for her support, and she didn't hesitate to join our mission.
7a+, besides having everything you would expect from a high-end modern bouldering gym (including a Kilterboard), is simply beautiful.
You can really tell that the owners built it with love and care for the details.
They just care about doing things right, so of course they chose to go with us and our Chalk :)
BOULDERHAUS DARMSTADT
When our ambassador Ole told Simon from the Bouldehaus about us and our mission, Simon immediately reached out and asked to work with us.
And so the Bouldehaus Darmstadt became the very first client to come to us, rather than us coming to them, and that was simply because they liked our mission and wanted to support us. We couldn't be more grateful!
It is so motivating to see that people are moved and inspired by our vision and want to get involved to do their part.
So if you're in Darmstadt, visit the Boulderhaus and try out their state of the art boulder problems, lots of beasts like Ole and Simon train there so you'll find challenging stuff.
And while you're there, visit their shop where you can choose to support us by buying our chalk ;)
SOUTH ROCK
If you want to climb with a rope in Berlin, South Rock is one of the best options you have.
The gym has the highest walls in Berlin, plenty of autobelays, beautiful outdoor walls, and a gorgeous sauna as well.
Boris, the owner of the gym, is an absolute climbing fanatic, and he is putting all his passion into making the gym the best in Berlin.
You can definitely see his efforts.
When a mutual friend introduced us, Boris was easygoing and really friendly. And he immediately loved our concept and didn't hesitate to give us his support.
So another beautiful cooperation started, and now you can find our chalk at South Rock, but more is coming ;)
BROCCHI SUI BLOCCHI
Brocchi sui Blocchi (which in English translates as something like "Noobs on the Boulders") is a group of friends who started making memes about themselves and being noob climbers back in 2016
In a world where everyone is all about showing how strong they are and the impressive achievements they have made, Brocchi made of being "normal" their weapon.
They gave voice with authenticity and self-irony to all those climbers (including us) who are just regular people living the journey of being a beginner or average climber.. so 90% of the climbing community.
And that's why they became so famous that they were giving climbing "tips" to Stefano Ghisolfi in his own house and they ended up playing in a fake band with Tommy Caldwell.
But they are not just funny and authentic.
They share an important vision with us.
They think that climbing is a powerful tool to shape society. That the process of constantly being humbled by our weaknesses, sharing the pain and the joy with our friends (and all others), facing our fears and our ego will make us better people.
They believe that climbing is political because it is about resistance, it is about inclusivity, and it is about working together and not against each other.
Having these strong values in common, it was only a matter of time before we would join forces to show the world that it's not about who is the coolest, the strongest, the craziest.
It's about the process of becoming a better version of ourselves, it is about giving back to those who need help, it is about being humble and enjoying the journey that we all share.
PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Good people connect easily, and this is how we got to know Lowie, the co-founder of Plastic Fantastic — a "fantastic" company based in Switzerland that provides modern gyms with a 360° professional service, covering everything from high-level routesetting to wall design and holds distribution.
Lowie, along with his partner Igor, are passionate climbers and setters of international fame (they both set for the World Championships in Bern, just to give you an example).
But despite all that, they are, hands down, amongst the most humble people we've ever met.
We randomly met Lowie in Berlin and, without knowing anything about all that, we told him about the idea behind Skalo.
He loved our mission so much that he immediately offered to help us...for freaking Free. Nobody ever did that!
So now we're partners with Plastic Fantastic, which, among all other things, will also be our distributor in Switzerland. Amazing.
TUSCIA VERTICALE
Tuscia Verticale holds a special place in my heart: it's where I truly fell in love with climbing. At that time, it was a truly old-school gym... just two walls, a campus board, and a small community of climbing fanatics.
I fell in love with climbing there not because of the sport itself, but because of that community.
Unfortunately, I only climbed there for six months, just before moving to Berlin. But the friendships made during those months still hold strong till now, almost 10 years later.
In the meantime, Tuscia Verticale has transformed into a modern gym, but it's still led with passion by the same two guys who founded it in 2013. Now, in addition to their vast experience, they have all the tools to make the gym a top-notch "climbing academy."
But, even with a modern look, Tuscia Verticale remains a place where people can gather, share silly jokes, and simply enjoy being together.
So a cooperation between Skalo and Tuscia Verticale felt just natural.
There, you not only have the opportunity to refine your technique with coaches with a ton of experience, but you can also support us by purchasing our chalk and merchandise.
And you will have the opportunity to join a wonderful community :)
GEBLA
The climbing community is a welcoming one almost everywhere. But in Malta it is especially so.
While climbing in the beautiful and definitely underrated crags of the island, we accidentally bumped into Amy and then Chris.
It was love at first sight and we ended up climbing and hanging out with them for the rest of our vacation :)
They turned out to be the manager and the co-owner of the only indoor climbing gym in Malta: Gebla.
Being such nice people, they both loved our mission and decided to work with us without hesitation :)
If you're thinking about a climbing vacation somewhere new, we can definitely recommend Malta: the quality of climbing is amazing, the people are welcoming and the sea is beautiful.
And if you want to meet other climbing fanatics, get some tips on the best crags to visit, or just have a good time, go to Gebla! You won't be disappointed ;)
We will definitely be back!
LA MOLE SPORTS ACADEMY
The partnership with La Mole Sport Academy happened in the most natural and awesome way: a random encounter at the crag :)
We bumped into Stefano, the founder of La Mole, at a crag in Briancon, and amid jokes about our climbing prowess (or lack thereof), we hit it off and started chatting about our projects.
Stefano loved Skalo's concept and mission and decided immediately to support us... so, from now on, you can get your hands on our chalk at La Mole!
La Mole Sports Academy started as a climbing center and evolved into a massive sports hub where different disciplines like CrossFit, Martial Arts, and Yoga merge together. They're all about being welcoming and inclusive, and we couldn't like it more :)
If you're around Turin and want to train, you'll find everything you wish for there!
DIRTBAG CLIMBING SHOP
I met Ruben and Frankie at the Nannai hostel when I was in Ulassai for the first time back in 2021.
Ulassai is gorgeous, the climbing community there is basically one big family and if you love climbing you should definitely go there, but that's another story.
This story is about how a cooperation and then a friendship was born between dumb jokes and chess tournaments on Nannai's rooftop.
Back then Skalo was a little more than an idea but Ruben and Frankie immediately showed their enthusiasm for it.
Even though I only stayed for two weeks, we kept in touch and when they finally opened a climbing shop in Ulassai they were happy to support our cause and sell our chalk and merch there.
Long story short: go to Ulassai and go visit the Dirtbag. You can buy the guidebook there and Frankie and Ruben will give you the best tips on where to climb.
Don't bother bringing your own equipment, cause at the Dirtbag you can rent everything for 50€/week (which is way less than what you'll pay for the luggage).
You don't even need to bring your chalk: you can buy ours there and support us and them at the same time ;)
PALAROCCIA
The collaboration with Palaroccia tells another story about how the passion for climbing can unite people even after many years.
I first met Simone, one of the founders of Palaroccia, by chance when he was visiting Berlin and came to climb at Boulderklub where I was working.
This was in 2016 and neither Skalo nor Palaroccia existed.
We just connected as people and climbing fanatics. We exchanged contacts with the idea of visiting each other and climbing together.
Which of course never happened.
Flash forward 8 years: I stumble across Palaroccia's account on Instagram and I somehow think immediately about Simone's dream: to open the first bouldering gym in Napoli. So I write a message... And Simone replies.
So Simone and Palaroccia's tam like what Skalo is about (of course) and Palaroccia becomes one of our partners... how can you not love climbing?
Needless to say, if you happen to be in Naples and you're looking for a place to climb, now you know where to go :)
AFRIKAT CHALKBAGS
When Kat wanted to add chalk to her offering of amazing chalk bags, she reached out to us.
We couldn't be happier!
Both of our projects are active in the prolific Berlin climbing community, and we were already aware of each other.
Kat felt that our vision and mission were a perfect match for her high-quality, handmade chalk bags, so she contacted us.
After a chat, it didn't take long to realize that our values and ideas were totally aligned, and supporting each other felt like the right choice.
Kat makes some beautiful chalk bags out of a unique South African fabric called ShweShwe. They are colorful, detailed, and... well, different.
If you don't already have a chalk bag or are looking for a present, be sure to check out her work!
OSTBLOC
Ostbloc and its owners, Lutzt and Jacob, are a big part of the history of the climbing scene in Berlin.
Ostbloc was the first gym in Berlin to have the "modern" look and we still remember being blown away when we first walked in almost 10 years ago.
Since then they have continued to innovate and raise the bar, probably indirectly encouraging the healthy competition that exists between Berlin's best gyms.
Located next to the river Spree and basically in front of one of Berlin's most famous clubs, Ostbloc is a symbol of Berlin's lifestyle.
You can feel it especially in summer when you can chill out or dance some techno (there's always a DJ on Thursdays) on the grass between the gym and the canal, watching one of Berlin's best sunsets.
Raising the bar also means trying to make things right and fair. So when we approached them and they realised what our project was about, they didn't hesitate to support us.
We've spent a lot of time at Ostbloc and we're really looking forward to working with them :)
CLIMBING ZONE
Climbing Zone is a community of climbers that aims to reevaluate the beautiful yet problematic territory of southern Italy, which is too often underrated and sometimes even abandoned.
There are many amazing climbing areas that remain unknown to the general public, and there is tremendous potential for further exploration. The people of Climbing Zone are dedicated to bringing these hidden gems to the attention of the climbing community, with the intent of promoting the climbing culture in southern Italy and stimulating the economy of local communities.
The regions of southern Italy have the highest rate of unemployment, and many villages are becoming abandoned. A symbiotic relationship between the climbing community and the local communities could have a profound impact on these territories.
Climbing Zone is another example of people who use their passion for climbing for a greater purpose, and for this reason, we are more than happy to partner with them.
RESOLING ROCKS
Resoling Rocks is the first (and only) workshop specialized in repairing climbing shoes in Berlin.
They are an official La Sportiva resoler and in their brand new headquarters they have also a little climbing shop.
They sell the best models from La Sportiva and, guess what, our chalk as well :)
Ah, and they have a Moonboard for the fanatics too..
They are not just our partners, they are friends!
So go there and give your climbing shoes a new life.
Try them on the Moonboard and buy some quality chalk ;)
